Position Overview

The Division of University Advancement is seeking to hire a Director of Development within the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations (CFR). Reporting to the Executive Director of Development of CFR, this metric-driven position requires the ability to manage external relationships with the ultimate goal of securing funding for University priorities, while maintaining strong and productive internal relationships between CFR and its partners across campus. Key responsibilities include the drafting and submission of funding proposals to prospective donors; administrative support for CFR collaborations with other units; accurate and timely record-keeping; and logistical support for activities related to CFR fundraising.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and four years' of professional experience in fundraising, donor relations, public relations, or sales: or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising principles.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with internal and external constituents.
• Ability to plan, organize, develop and execute strategies.
• Ability to mentor and coach colleagues or direct reports.
• Ability to manage time, personnel, financial, and physical resources effectively.
• Exceptional communications skills.
• Ability to master University policies and procedures and apply these in specific situations.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications and qualities:
• Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and compelling content.
• Accuracy and fluency in spelling, grammar, and content.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Flexibility, curiosity, and an interest in taking on new challenges.
• Professionalism and desire to collaborate with faculty, staff, and university leadership.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience working with corporations and/or foundations preferred.
• Flexibility and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Familiarity with fundraising databases such as Raiser’s Edge.
• Previous experience in drafting proposals and/or briefing materials preferred.
• Experience working with board members and executives preferred.

Salary:

$70,000 to $80,000 annually

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm; Typical 40-hour work week with possible flex-time schedule and hybrid work opportunities.
